Outside the exhibition halls, expo attendees can indulge their tech obsession further by browsing the gadgets on sale at the Guang Hua Electronics Market. This six-floor shopping complex on Civic Boulevard houses hundreds of IT stores, offering everything from brand name laptops to audio-visual equipment to computer and gaming peripherals. To bag a bargain, shoppers are encouraged to haggle. Taipei is a diverse and fascinating city, with a long list of cultural attractions. Shihlin Night Market is a worthwhile diversion that offers the full spectrum of Taiwanese snacks, such as stinky tofu and oyster omelets. The striking National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall is also a must-see, surrounded by carp-filled ponds and manicured gardens – a quiet counterpoint to the bustling expo circuit.
