Oktoberfest จะเริ่มอย่างเป็นทางการในวันที่ 17 กันยายนปีนี้ พิธีเปิดจะเริ่มด้วยขบวนพาเหรดที่มีผู้แต่งกายในสไตล์บาวาเรียนร่วมพันคน เดินผ่านถนนสายต่างๆ ของมิวนิคไปยังบริเวณงาน ก่อนที่นายกเทศมนตรีจะทำการเปิดถังเบียร์เพื่อเริ่มพิธี ตลอดเทศกาลนี้ ผู้มาเยือนจะได้อิ่มอร่อยไปกับเบียร์กว่าเจ็ดล้านลิตร ไวน์ 89,000 ลิตร และขาหมูเยอรมันกว่า 70,000 ชิ้น

Held since 1810, Oktoberfest is the world's biggest fair, with more than six million people attending each year. A lively celebration of Bavarian culture, for 17 days the festival brings music, beer tents, carnival rides and hearty traditional cuisine to the central Munich area of Theresienwiese.

This year, Oktoberfest features 14 tents of drinking, dining and entertainment. Each tent offers visitors a different experience – some are small, intimate affairs with a relaxed ambience, while some are large bustling beer halls with brass bands and a lively party atmosphere. To promote family-friendliness and make the festival fun for guests of all ages, all tents are smoke-free and loud party music is limited to evenings after 6pm.

The most famous highlight of Oktoberfest is undoubtedly the beer. All beers must be produced within Munich and all the most famous local beers are represented, including Löwenbräu, Augustiner, and Hofbräu. Another highlight is the food, with delicious Bavarian specialties sold in every tent. Biergarten favorites include pretzels with obatzda, a soft cheese dish, myriad types of wurst (sausage), pork knuckle, veal, and roast chicken.

Oktoberfest begins officially on September 17 this year. The opening ceremony begins with a parade of thousands of costumed Bavarians through the streets of Munich to the festival site before the mayor taps on a beer keg to launch celebrations. Over the course of the festival, visitors will consume more than seven million liters of beer, 89,000 liters of wine and more than 70,000 pork knuckles.
