โรงแรมฮิลตัน พัทยา ร่วมปิดไฟให้โลกพัก “Earth Hour” ประจำปี 2559 พัทยา ประเทศไทย – 22 มีนาคม 2559 – โรงแรมฮิลตัน พัทยา ร่วมรณรงค์โครงการปิดไฟให้โลกพักหรือ Earth Hour ประจำปี 2559 โดยจัดให้มีการนับถอยหลัง ณ บริเวณเวลคัมล็อบบี้ ชั้น 1 ของโรงแรมฯ ในวันเสาร์ที่ 19 มีนาคม 2559 ตั้งแต่เวลา 20.30 น. – 21.30 น. ทั้งนี้โรงแรมฯ ยังจัดให้มีการปิดไฟที่ไม่จำเป็นเป็นเวลา 1 ชั่วโมงพร้อมกับนานาประเทศทั่วโลกเพื่อร่วมสร้างจิตสำนึกรักษ์สิ่งแวดล้อม
ในครั้งนี้ โรงแรมฮิลตัน พัทยา รวมไปถึงโรงแรมและรีสอร์ทในเครือฮิลตันเวิลด์ไวด์อีกว่า 4,000 แห่ง
ได้ร่วมมือกันเพื่อให้โลกได้พัก อีกทั้งยังเป็นอีกทางหนึ่งในการส่งเสริมจิตสำนึกรักษ์โลกและช่วยรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ดีให้มีอยู่อย่างยั่งยืนตลอดไป

สำหรับกิจกรรมในโครงการปิดไฟให้โลกพักหรือ Earth Hour ณ โรงแรมฮิลตัน พัทยา มีดังต่อไปนี้
• พนักงานโรงแรมฯ ร่วมสร้างจิตสำนึก Earth Hour ด้วยการจัดการวิ่งขึ้นบันไดครั้งที่ 3 (Staircase Race Earth Hour Run) จากชั้น 1 ถึงชั้น 34 ในวันพุธที่ 16 มีนาคม 2559
• เคาท์ดาวน์ ณ บริเวณเวลคัมล็อบบี้ ชั้น 1 ของโรงแรมฯ ในวันเสาร์ที่ 19 มีนาคม เวลา 20.30 น.
• ร่วมกันจุดเทียนในรูปสัญลักษณ์ “60+” ณ บริเวณล็อบบี้
• ร่วมรักษ์โลกโดยการปิดไฟที่ไม่ได้ใช้ เป็นเวลา 1 ชั่วโมงเต็ม
โครงการปิดไฟให้โลกพักหรือ Earth Hour ริเริ่มโดยกองทุนสัตว์ป่าโลกสากล หรือ WWF โดยเริ่มขึ้นครั้งแรกที่ประเทศออสเตรเลียเมื่อปี 2550 โดยเมื่อปี 2556 มีผู้คนเข้ามามีส่วนร่วมมากถึง 345 ล้านคน และได้รับการขนานนามให้เป็นกิจกรรมรณรงค์เพื่อสิ่งแวดล้อมที่ยิ่งใหญ่ที่สุดในโลกอีกด้วย| Hilton Pattaya Celebrates Earth Hour 2016 by Switching Off the Lights Beyond the Hour | – Hilton Pattaya will be celebrating Earth Hour 2016 from 8.30pm – 9.30 pm local time on Saturday, March 19th. The hotel will join thousands of Hilton Worldwide’s more than 4,600 properties across 102 countries in switching off energy and shining a light on climate change by hosting various Earth Hour activities for Team Members, franchised employees and guests to take part in reducing energy use and preserving the environment. This year, Hilton Worldwide is expanding environmental celebrations to the full month of March, reinforcing the company’s commitment to addressing climate change and driving an even larger impact.
“Earth Hour is one of the many ways we show our commitment to energy conservation while delivering great guest experiences. We are encouraging our guests, neighbors and team members to join us in support of this global effort,” said Rudolf Troestler, General Manager “To kick off Earth Hour, we arranged the 3rd Staircase Race Earth Hour run to raise awareness of Earth Hour among the team member on March 16. And on the Earth Hour day, we switched off all spotlights illuminating the hotel building during the hour and beyond hour as well as Light candles to form the numbers “60+” at Lobby on level 16. Moreover, guest also experienced dining by candlelight on our rooftop restaurant & bar.”
As part of its commitment to preserving the environment, Hilton Pattaya has in place a weekly program in its team member dining area to instill awareness and drive action around food waste reduction. In line with Hilton Worldwide’s global commitment, Hilton Pattaya has also banned the serving of shark fin in its restaurants and F&B facilities managed by the hotel.
Hilton Pattaya will celebrate Earth Hour through the following activities:
• Staircase race Earth Hour kick off run on March 16, to raise awareness of Earth Hour
• Countdown to Earth Hour and the cutting off of electricity from 8.30 p.m. onwards
• Light candles to form the numbers “60+” at Lobby on level 16
• Candlelight dinners experience on the rooftop restaurant & Bar, Horizon
• Completely turn off lighting on all unoccupied floors
• Switched off all spotlights illuminating the hotel building during the hour and beyond hour
Created by World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Earth Hour began in 2007 as a way for individuals and businesses to show how simple steps can make a significant impact on addressing climate change. The idea was conceived during a WWF meeting held at the Hilton Sydney, Australia. In its first year, more than two million people turned off their lights for an hour and reduced the city's energy consumption by more than 10 percent. It became a global movement in 2008 with more than 50 million people participating, and today it is the largest grassroots environmental movement in the world with more than 7,000 cities and towns in 172 countries and territories and hundreds of millions of people participating across seven continents. In 2015, over 620,000 actions were taken to combat climate change during Earth Hour.
