Hilton Kicks Off 100th Anniversary Celebrations in South East Asia with Communities, Team Members and GuestsHilton, one of the fastest-growing hospitality companies in the world, has kick-started its 100th anniversary celebrations in South East Asia. In the lead-up to its centennial milestone on 31 May 2019, the global hospitality company aims to bring what it coined “The Hilton Effect” to life through a series of initiatives that will involve more than 12,000 Team Members across nine countries to impact communities and surprise guests.Following in the footsteps of founder Conrad Hilton, hotels across the region are celebrating by engaging the communities in which they operate. For example, At the Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok and DoubleTree by Hilton Sukhumvit hotels, located side by side in downtown Bangkok, the centenary celebrations focus upon support to the local community with a project called ‘Linen for Hope – Back to Life Project’. Team members have been making napkins from bed linen no longer used by the hotels. On 23rd May, team members visited the Bangkae Home for the Elderly in the city to deliver napkins, diapers and dried food. On 30th May, the ‘Linen for Hope – Back to Life Project’ continues with team members visiting the Wat Prabath Namphu Foundation, an organisation that cares for HIV patients, to make a similar donation. On 27th to 31st May, the two hotels will each select a ‘Guest of the Day’. The lucky guests will be greeted and congratulated upon arrival; have photos taken with Hilton centenary props, and receive exclusive benefits including a complimentary upgrade to an Executive Suite or a Presidential Suite at Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok and a Deluxe Suite at DoubleTree by Hilton Sukhumvit Bangkok. All the lucky ‘Guests of the Day’ will receive special amenities under the anniversary theme as well as a complimentary buffet dinner for two persons at Dee Lite or complimentary free set dinner for two at Scalini. In Singapore, the company’s three hotels – Conrad Centennial Singapore, Hilton Singapore and Hilton Garden Inn Singapore Serangoon have committed to a year of giving back to the community through various partnerships with non-profit organisations including Boys’ Town Charity, Healthy Start Child Development Centre and Krishna’s Kitchen. In Vietnam, Hilton Da Nang has committed 100 hours of work at orphanages and pledged to plant 100 trees in line with Hilton’s corporate social responsibility commitment Travel with Purpose, whilst in Malaysia hotels such as DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Penang, Hilton Garden Inn Puchong and Hilton Petaling Jaya will be hosting a dinner for underprivileged children to break their fast alongside Team Members, as Hilton’s 100th anniversary coincides with the holy month of Ramadan. To give thanks to Team Members who are at the forefront of delivering exceptional experiences to guests every day, Hilton’s properties in South East Asia will be rolling out a series of initiatives including a special Hilton Effect film by Hilton Petaling Jaya to showcase the efforts past and present Team Members have put into building the success of the hotel, as well as a new “100 Hours of Learning” programme by DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur which would introduce cross exposure through a series of in-house learning modules for Team Members. Guests at Hilton’s hotels in the region are also welcome to join in the 100th anniversary celebrations through activities including: • Guests staying at Hilton Garden Inn Puchong on 31 May will receive a welcome treat – 100 lollipops and 100 cupcakes will be distributed to guests as a token of appreciation. • Hilton Kuala Lumpur will be inviting guests down to the hotel lobby for a giant cake-cutting ceremony in celebration of the centenary. Guests will also receive a specially curated 100th anniversary signature cake as a welcome gift in their rooms upon arrival. • On 31 May, Hilton Manila will offer their first 100 guests a generous 50 percent discount for lunch and dinner at their dining establishment, Kusina. • Conrad Centennial Singapore has created a special afternoon tea set at the Lobby Lounge to celebrate the 100th anniversary, where guests will get to savour signature creations from various Hilton properties worldwide in the last 100 years, including The Eggs Benedict and Red Velvet Cake. “As a 100-year-old pioneer in the hospitality industry, we have the opportunity to keep making the world a better place, and ensure that destinations remain vibrant and resilient for generations of travellers to come,” said Paul Hutton, vice president, operations, South East Asia, Hilton. “Being one of the fastest growing hospitality companies in South East Asia means we have the opportunity, and the responsibility, to do our part for the environment and community. It is just amazing to see our team members come together and rally behind the chance to give back through community partners as we celebrate a milestone anniversary this year. We are, after all, a business of people serving people, and our Team Members are at the heart of our success – we will not be where we are today without them,” added Hutton. Hilton currently operates 39 hotels in South East Asia, with over 12,000 rooms across nine countries, and a pipeline of 51 hotels which will open in the next three to five years. The region is a key growth engine for Hilton, where the global hospitality company has been a pioneer in entering new destinations. This includes the launch of Hilton in Myanmar with the opening of Hilton Nay Pyi Taw in 2014 and the launch of the Hilton brand in Manila last year. Further, the company is looking forward to the opening of Hilton Dili Palm Springs in Timor Leste by 2020, which will mark not only the foray of Hilton’s flagship brand into the country, but the first internationally-branded hotel to enter the market.
